Wilson County Drug Overdose Deaths from 2013 – 2017. Notice that in 2017 we had 34 total deaths due to drug overdose, and 26 of them were from opioids.
Drug Incidents in Wilson County from 2014 – 2018. Notice that for all drugs except Powder Cocaine, the number of incidents is rising each year.
The number of Wilson County patients receiving opioids is still high, with 24% of our residents having a prescription for opioids.
While prescribing rates are going down from 2013 – 2016, Wilson County’s prescribing rate of 91.4 per 100 persons is still well above the national average of 66.5 per 100 persons.

- From 2006 to 2012 there were 36,945,648 prescription pain pills, enough for 48 pills per person per year, supplied to Wilson County, Tenn.
- 9,488,700 of the pills were distributed by Walgreen Co and 19,407,500 were manufactured by Actavis Pharma, Inc.
- WALGREEN CO., LEBANON pharmacy received the highest number of pills.
