Why are young adults more prone to Addiction?
The frontal lobe, responsible for decision-making and judgment, doesn't fully mature until the mid-20s. This developmental delay, combined with a heightened sensitivity to rewards in the growing brain of youth/young adults, may increase the likelihood of risky behaviors like substance use.
Young adulthood is also a time where many experience significant life changes, including moving away from home and starting new chapters. This can be a period of both excitement and stress. Some may experiment with drugs or alcohol during this time, influenced by peer pressure, personal challenges, or mental health conditions.
